Be at Home When the First Withdrawal Symptoms Hit

At home, you are free to be yourself. You can lie in your bed and moan and groan which you cannot really do if you are at work.

If you have been smoking longer than just a few months, you are able to tell when you body is beginning to go into withdrawal. Sometimes these symptoms may interfere with driving or operating heavy machinery. It may not be the best time to make any major life decisions.

You need to be safely at home when these symptoms hit. If you can get through the withdrawal symptoms, then you are on your way to kicking the habit.

Avoid Places Where You Used To Smoke

Try not to hang around people who are smoking or going back to the places where you would normally light up when you are trying to stop smoking. Chances are that you will return to your old habit.

Watching others smoke and breathing in the smoke will not help you to stop smoking. That’s like being on a diet and watching children eat Halloween candy. Why would you want to put yourself through this torture? If it means dropping some friends for a time, then do it. After all, your life is at stake!

Keep Yourself Distracted

Another of the ways to quit smoking is to take up a hobby that involves keeping your body or your hands busy. This could take the form of needlework, gardening, writing, crafts, playing with the dig, painting and then destroying what you have painted and start all over.

You want to do anything that will keep your busy. There is a point to all of this. It is to keep your mind busy so you will forget about the nicotine cravings. If you are distracted enough, they will eventually go away.

Don’t Light Up Again!
