Stop Smoking for Your Unborn Baby
You have probably heard it before that women who smoke while pregnant have a higher risk of having a stillborn baby. But it never hurts to hear it again, because it is proven.
A group in Sweden did a test with over half a million Swedish women during an 18-year period. After allowing for age, education, marrital status, and anything else that might make a difference on the health of the mother and baby, the researchers found that smoking during pregnancy led to a higher incidence of having a stillborn baby.
The good news is, if the mother quit smoking during the first part of the pregnancy or before her risk of killing her child was reduced to the same level as the women who never smoked.
Think about that. If you have been smoking for years it does not mean you have a higher chance of having a stillborn baby as long as you quit before you get pregnant or in the early days of your pregnancy.
A stillborn birth is tragic. Reduce your chances of experiencing this. Stop smoking before you get pregnant. Even better, stop today.
