Quit Smoking Tips - To Help You Quit
What can you do to increase your chances of success in this endeavor to quit smoking? Here are some quit smoking tips that seem to make the biggest impact for your success:
- Surround yourself with friends who want you to succeed (and who don't smoke or who at least do not smoke around you)
- Believe that you can quit smoking
- See yourself as a non-smoker
- When you feel like lighting up a cigarette, sit back, relax, and breath deeply for a few minutes
- If possible, get rid of anything in your home that reminds you of cigarettes, such as the ash trays, your favorite smoking chair, and so on
- Replace your smoking habit with another habit, such as jogging or drawing or something (naturally, you will not want to replace it with eating or you develop another health danger, being overweight)
These are the six quit smoking tips that keep popping up in my reading as being the most important. They really are very helpful tips for anyone who wants to quit.
If you have decided to quit smoking, I admire you for the decision. I wish I could wave a magic wand and you would have no more desire for cigarettes. But that is wishful thinking.
The next best thing I can offer you are these tips. If they are not enough then you could try using any number of quit smoking products such as patches, pills, or whatever else. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist to determine which would be best for you.
Personally, whenever I have a habit that I want to change (such as eating too much) I try to replace it with something else, such as exercise or drawing. It takes my mind off of the M&Ms or cookies and helps me start a new habit of eating more good foods.
By the way, if you have ever wanted to learn how to draw but thought you had no talent whatsoever, my cousin specializes in teaching people just like you how to draw beautifully.
Her students (whose "before" pictures are horrible) go on to draw amazing portraits of family and friends, pets, landscapes, and anything else. I've been taking lessons and have been completely amazed by the difference between my before picture (which was truly pathetic) and the first few drawings I have done. Check out her site here: Discover Art With Sandra.
But whatever you do to help you break the smoking habit, do it now. The sooner you stop smoking the better for your health and for the health of those who live with you.
