Train Yourself to Say No to Cigarettes
Here's the scenario: You are at a restaurant with friends. As soon as dinner is over everyone pulls out their cigarettes and lights up. Everyone, that is, except you. You have quit smoking. Or at least, you are in the process of quitting.
What do you say when one of your friends offers you a cigarette? How do you respond?
Plan ahead what you are going to say. Repeat the line over and over. It sounds hokey, but it will help, a lot.
You can re-train your responses to people who are enablers of your habits. If someone offers you a cigarette, well-knowing that you are trying to quit smoking (or not even intentionally), just see yourself saying no thank you. It will get so much easier to just say NO!
Replace giving in to smoking with "NO THANK YOU. NOT FOR ME!" AND TAKE THREE DEEP CLEANSING BREATHS.
Also do this routine of breathing and relaxing as you fall asleep every night. Make it your personal countdown. Practice this technique often and you will see the results soon and quicker than you think!
Smoking will lose its luster, hold and appeal to you in no time. If you have urges to light up, just stop, regain control and then take your breathing and concentration break. Practice your new habit, instead of the older one.
By the way, the picture up above is of my nephew and sister, in case you were wondering. I really enjoy spending time with my family.
